Pickens County authority tables election of chair and vice chair until more members attend

The Development Authority of Pickens County discussed electing a chair and vice chair at its Nov. 7 meeting but ultimately tabled the election until a future meeting when a fuller membership can attend.

Members asked one another to serve; multiple members declined or said they were not ready to take on a chair role. With two vacancies on the authority and some members absent, one board member moved to table the election of chair and vice chair until the next meeting so more members could participate. The motion was seconded and passed by voice vote.

The authority also confirmed it has five current members with two vacancies and said it hopes to fill remaining seats by March so the board can return to full capacity. The board discussed possibly skipping a February meeting and meeting instead on March 6 to allow time for appointments.
