Residents told Merrillville leaf pickup paused after heavy snow; stormwater director to confirm pond ownership

On pond ownership, commissioners explained many local ponds were conveyed to homeowner associations when subdivisions were developed and that the stormwater office maintains records of which ponds the town is responsible for. Matt Lake, identified in the meeting as the director of stormwater, was named as the contact to confirm ownership and responsibilities. Residents were instructed to contact the stormwater office or consult the town website for details.
