Commissioners reported that the Historical Society's CPA-funded windows project has progressed through CPC review and that CPC staff have identified additional competitive bids.
Bob Light told the commission the project team submitted lengthy clarifications about price discrepancies and that CPC staff found three additional bidders who came in below the original estimate from the initial vendor. He said CPC will consider whether the applicant needs to submit a new application or only an amendment; the commission understood an amendment may suffice and that CPC is likely to close the public hearing and deliberate at the next meeting.
Bob Light said he planned to attend the CPC meeting if possible and to be prepared to speak on the commission's letter of support. Commissioners welcomed the additional bidders and said competitive pricing may keep the project within budget.
No formal action on the windows project was taken by the Historic District Commission at the Jan. 21 meeting; the commission will await CPC's next procedural steps.
