Staff said the work would require three competitive estimates under county purchasing rules and would be funded from the capital improvement fund and the previously authorized grant budget (the board had previously authorized up to $960,000 for the unit and related costs).

Commissioners voted to forward the budget amendment including the up‑to‑$25,000 modification (pending bids) to the full Board of Commissioners. Facilities staff estimated a three‑to‑five week procurement and construction window once bids are awarded and noted the importance of securing the vehicle inside a climate‑controlled, secure building to protect specialized equipment.
