Board approves personnel changes, special‑education agreements and policy second readings

At its Jan. 15 meeting the Colonial School District board approved a package of personnel actions, two representative appointments, special‑education agreements and policy second readings.

Dr. Christian presented the superintendent’s personnel report and asked the board to approve recommended personnel changes and extracurricular contracts as listed in agenda items 7b and 7c; the board approved the personnel report after a second. The board also approved a motion to appoint Rick Carpenter as the district’s representative to the Central Montco Technical High Schools Joint Operating Committee for a three‑year term and approved Thomas Santiago to finish a term on the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit Board of Directors (term through 06/30/2026).

The board approved an educational service agreement for the 2025–26 school year and Extended School Year (ESY 2026) with Devereaux School to provide special‑education services for one resident and one nonresident student as specified by the district’s cost table. Separately, the board approved a settlement agreement in lieu of FAPE; the item had been discussed in executive session because of student confidentiality and the transcript records the motion and approval without details.

On policy matters the board approved policy 307 (student teachers and interns) and policy 822 (automated external defibrillator and CPR) on second reading. The motions were approved on the consent agenda during the meeting.
