The Madison County Treasurer reported a surge in vehicle titles and driver transactions and announced operational changes to handle demand.
A speaker identified as Kylie told the board the office issued 6,543 titles in fiscal year 2024 and 8,414 in fiscal year 2025, a change she characterized as a 29 percent increase. She said driver records rose from about 19,250 to 28,725, a 49 percent increase, and that monthly vehicle counts showed large growth as well.
To manage volume and give staff predictable breaks, Kylie said the office will close for lunch daily from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. She said the change had already reduced continuous coverage issues and helped staff take a real break.
Kylie also warned of a statewide rollout of a new driver‑services system (referred to in the meeting as MVD360) scheduled to go live Jan. 20; she said the office cannot accept new appointments statewide from Jan. 14–20 while the rollout occurs. The office also plans to switch to a third‑party mailing service for renewals and tax statements to improve delivery and cut costs.
She asked the public for patience during the transition and said the office is working to avoid converting routine services to appointment‑only models.
The board listened and asked questions about the origin of nonresident customers and the appointment policy in neighboring counties.
