Lorain County commissioners on Jan. 16 approved four construction contracts for road and bridge work totaling approximately $2,706,932.50.
Contracts and awards recorded at the meeting include:
• Bursley Road (R and I Construction, Tiffin) — $1,130,753; work to begin after contract execution and to be completed on or before Aug. 15, 2026; ODOT to provide 100% of construction funding.
• Holly Road (RNI Construction, Tiffin) — $792,753; work to be completed on or before Aug. 15, 2026; ODOT to provide approximately $753,115.35 toward the construction cost, with a county engineer project account covering the remaining $39,637.65.
• Griggs Road bridge superstructure (D2 Excavating LLC, Vickery) — $357,981; project includes removal and replacement of a single-span bridge superstructure over the West Branch of the Black River; ODOT to provide 100% of construction funding; completion target Aug. 2026.
• East River Road resurfacing (Crossroads Asphalt Recycling Inc., Columbia Station) — $425,445.50; resurfacing from Chestnut Ridge to the Elyria corporation limit; work to be completed on or before July 15, 2026; ODOT to provide approximately $340,356.40 toward the cost, with the engineer’s project account covering the remainder.
Each award was opened for bids in December and was described in the agenda as the most responsive and compliant bid. Commissioners moved, seconded and recorded aye votes to approve the contracts.
Next steps: after contract execution the county engineer’s office will authorize work to begin and manage project timelines and fund disbursements.
