Exeter’s Town Council approved a series of public‑works procurement recommendations, awarding paving and surface treatment contracts and approving the purchase of two heavy trucks to update the town fleet.
Public Works staff recommended awarding the street paving contract to TMIOC LLC and the modified chip‑seal contract (polymer/rubber compound) to Allstate Construction, citing prior performance and service considerations. "It is not the lowest number, but it's absolutely for the service that I'm used to," the director said of a recommended vendor.
The council also approved the purchase of two heavy trucks (a 6‑wheel and a 10‑wheel platform) from Advantage Truck Group (ATG) on a Western Star platform. The public‑works director described a strategy to buy models with longer warranties, increase resale value and reduce long‑term maintenance expenses, noting modern trucks reduce roadside repairs and warranty coverage can cut costly out‑of‑pocket repairs.
Councilors asked about budget timing; staff said purchases are being funded across two fiscal years and that the buy will be managed to avoid large one‑year spikes. Motions to accept the bids and proceed with the truck purchases were moved, seconded and approved by voice vote; no detailed roll call tally was read into the meeting minutes.
