The Weston County School District board voted to approve the school calendar listed in the board packet as '2728' and approved its consent agenda, then received a series of administrative updates on facilities, technology and student programs.
The board approved the calendar by voice vote after a motion to adopt the packet recommendation. The consent agenda passed with items A–E and G approved together; one board member abstained from voting on item F due to a conflict of interest.
Administrators reported an IT switch replacement completed over the Christmas break and a planned rollout of multi-factor authentication for certified staff, with subsequent rollout to classified staff to follow. Administration said it is evaluating backpacks for next-year computers.
Facilities updates included completed work on new wall-mounted showers for varsity locker rooms and plans to move forward with replacing some roof sections and installing a new elementary playground while deferring other roof sections (locker rooms) until legislative decisions about HVAC funding are clearer. "We'll get the ball rolling on playground stuff," an administrator said, and noted roof work may be deferred depending on legislative outcomes.
Staff also described student programming: plans for a career trade fair on Feb. 18 with roughly 95 RSVPs, an after-school CNA class with six enrolled students this semester, and work developing a CDL course next January in partnership with Eastern Wyoming College and community businesses.
