City staff and committee members reviewed ongoing programs and short-term operational items affecting marina users, including the Mariners Haven planning effort, recent field repairs and launch-ramp timing.
Chris (staff) confirmed consultants were supporting the Mariners Haven business-plan work and that whalers field had received recent repairs. He said staff had invited a yacht club to use the marina over the Thanksgiving weekend and was continuing routine outreach to keep the calendar full.
Regarding the public launch ramp, Chris said the work was scheduled to occur in November but cautioned that if equipment or scheduling problems arise, repairs would be pushed no later than March. Committee members asked for updates as the timetable becomes firm.
The committee also discussed local user experience concerns'noting the marina's relative distance from downtown and vandalism issues at nearby park restrooms'that can affect transient visitors. Staff reiterated ongoing maintenance work to keep the facility operating while longer-term capital and reconfiguration options are studied.
The committee agreed to continue operational coordination with consultants and to receive status updates before the next meeting.
