House suspends rules to extend committee reporting deadlines and allow a perimenopause commission petition to proceed

The committee on rules reported orders to extend the reporting deadlines for two committees and to allow consideration of a petition for a special commission on perimenopause and menopause care.

An unidentified reader reported that House No. 4822 would extend until Wednesday, March 18, 2026 the time within which the committee on health care financing is authorized to report on current House documents. Mister Phillips moved to suspend the rules; the motion carried by voice vote and the order was adopted.

Similarly, the committee reported House No. 4824 to extend until Tuesday, January 6, 2026 the time for the committee on public health to report on current House documents. That suspension of rules also passed by voice vote and the order was adopted.

The committee further reported, acting with the rules committee of the other branch, that Joint Rule 12 should be suspended to allow consideration of Representative Marjorie C. Decker’s petition to establish a special commission on perimenopause and menopause care in the committee on public health. Mister Phillips moved to suspend Joint Rule 12; members approved the suspension by voice vote.
