The Scott County Board of Supervisors on Jan. 2 elected Supervisor John Maxwell chair and Supervisor Jean Dixon vice chair and approved a package of routine organizational and administrative actions.
At the start of the meeting a motion to elect John Maxwell as chair was moved and seconded and approved by roll call. A subsequent motion to elect Jean Dixon as vice chair likewise passed by roll call. The board then approved the 2026 committee-chair appointments; the presenter said the slate is unchanged from last year except that a mental-health assignment was removed and a workforce-development body changed its name.
The board approved a resolution assigning supervisors to outside boards and commissions, designated the Northcott Press and the Quad City Times as the county’s official newspapers, and approved official bonds for various county offices. The board also approved minutes for recent meetings as presented.
On personnel business, the board approved a hiring exception to rehire Benjamin Carpenter for a full-time EMT position with MEDIC, approving start pay at step 2 (pay grade 18) and two weeks’ vacation accrual. The staff presentation stated the rehired employee would receive credit for prior county service and that the proposed hourly rate was $21.24.
