Winfield council delays library and police station work to clarify bids

Councilors reviewed multiple bids for renovation work at the library and the police station and determined that submitted quotes appear to cover different scopes of work.

The presiding speaker instructed that one set of bids be returned to the appropriate department heads so that each contractor bids on comparable work, saying he wanted "everybody on the same page" before awarding contracts. Staff and councilors discussed specific items—lighting removal and replacement, floor and ceiling work, and painting—and whether those tasks had been separated or included across bids. Council directed staff to collect all three bids, verify the scopes are consistent, and present the packages at the next council meeting.
