Meriden council appoints Kirsten Meisner to fill at‑large seat; oath administered

Meriden’s City Council unanimously appointed Kirsten Meisner on Dec. 15 to fill the at‑large vacancy created by the resignation of Michael S. Rodi and immediately conducted her oath of office in the council chambers.

The clerk read a resolution stating that Meisner meets charter requirements as a registered Democrat and a Meriden resident. A motion to adopt the appointment was made and seconded; during discussion, the majority leader introduced Meisner, noting she is a claims compliance director at Travelers and a longtime Meriden resident who previously ran for Area 4.

Following the vote, the city clerk administered the oath of office. Meisner repeated the oath to support the U.S. and Connecticut constitutions and to faithfully discharge the duties of the Meriden City Council. Council members congratulated Meisner after the swearing‑in.

The appointment is effective immediately and fills the unexpired portion of the at‑large term. The council did not record a separate roll call for this appointment; the clerk announced the appointment passed and the oath was administered that evening.
