The Crest Hill City Council on Jan. 19 approved a resolution authorizing a fourth amendment to the purchase contract between the city and Kwik Trip Corporation for property at 1610 Plainfield Road (the former city hall site).
Dan Ritter, director of community development, said the amendment extends the contract to accommodate delays while the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) reviews access improvements and while Kwik Trip completes required zoning applications. "This extension allows either another 90 days or 30 days after their zoning approval, whatever comes first," Ritter said.
Ritter said the parties hope to complete zoning reviews in February and close as soon as possible after that. The resolution passed on a roll call vote that recorded four yes votes and three no votes.
City staff also said they have been in contact with an entity under contract for Saint Anne's Church and will review that group's proposal to determine whether it meets previous special‑use conditions.
The council recorded the resolution as adopted; staff said the city will continue to work with Kwik Trip on zoning and IDOT coordination before final closing.
