Augusta County approves rezoning of two Stanton parcels to rural residential

Augusta County supervisors voted to rezone two parcels in the Pastures Magisterial District from General Agriculture to Rural Residential, a change that affects roughly 9.41 acres owned by Charles and Carol Weatherman and Herbert Kent McMath.

Miss Hensley, a staff member presenting the item, told the board the parcels are located in a community development area of the comprehensive plan and are planned for low‑density residential use. She noted the planning commission recommended approval and displayed an aerial map, zoning map and a conceptual lot layout for the parcels. "This request is to rezone from general agriculture to rural residential, approximately 9.41 acres," she said.

The applicant was present but chose not to speak. The public hearing was opened and no members of the public spoke for or against the request. A supervisor moved to rezone the parcels; the board approved the motion by voice vote with six in favor and one member absent.

Staff listed next administrative steps and noted that the rezoning is consistent with the comprehensive plan designation for low‑density residential. The board did not attach special conditions to the approval and no appeals or additional administrative requirements were recorded in the meeting minutes.
