A group of residents asked the Cole County Commission on Jan. 20 to place a dispute with a bank regarding an impending auction on the agenda next week and presented an example injunction they said their attorney could use.
An unidentified representative of the group said they have found an attorney and were seeking time because the auction process can be irreversible. Staff and commissioners discussed the county’s agenda timing rules—specifically the requirement that agenda items be submitted at least 24 hours before the meeting and that Saturdays, Sundays and holidays are not counted—and confirmed they had received the group’s letter by email and would add the item to next week’s agenda.
The group also provided copies of their materials to staff and described ongoing conversations with the bank; county staff said they would accept the documents and consider the group’s request at the next scheduled meeting. No formal action or injunction was granted at the Jan. 20 session.
