Director Kroner updates commissioners on RSVP donations, Tyler portal rollout and Wallace recreation capital plan

Director Kroner provided several operational updates at the Jan. 14 Norfolk County Commissioners meeting, including scheduling, volunteer efforts, staff training and technology work.

Kroner said next week's meeting (Jan. 21) would be moved to 1:30 p.m. to accommodate other county commitments. He praised volunteers and staff for a successful RSVP veterans-donation drive coordinated by Lucille Casis and Regional Services Director Bill Buckley, saying the program collected a sizable quantity of items for distribution to the West Roxbury VA hospital.

Kroner asked commissioners to note a correction to an earlier notice from the State Ethics Commission: conflict-of-interest training previously listed with a January due date should instead be completed by May 9, 2026. He also summarized an IT initiative: the county's employee-access portal in the Tyler system has begun a pilot rollout for regional services, led by Mark McDonald, to manage time-off requests, payroll access and tax information.

On parks and recreation, Kroner outlined capital priorities at the Wallace (Walsheen) Recreational Facility. He said roughly $74,000 is planned for tree work, cart-barn door repairs, fencing and related maintenance; Kroner said staff will provide a more detailed budget at the facility's budget hearing next month.

Kroner’s remarks were informational and did not result in formal board action during the meeting.
