Exeter council approves routine administrative items, appointments and a new stop sign

The Exeter Town Council approved several administrative and operational items during its meeting, including consent-grant awards, board appointments, public-works safety action and approvals to advance procurement for facility planning.

By voice vote the council approved consent agenda items involving grant or award approvals (including gifts and contracts noted in the packet) and the meeting agenda. The council formally accepted the resignation of Joseph M. Turner from the juvenile hearing board and moved to set that board temporarily inactive. The council then appointed Cheryl Chorney to perform building and zoning duties for the term indicated in the packet; the appointment passed by voice vote.

Public works presented a resident-requested traffic safety improvement: a stop sign and possible conversion to a four-way control at the intersection of Hot Pelskill Road and Trips Corner Road. Councilors moved to accept the recommendation and voted in favor.

Council also authorized issuance of a request for proposals (RFP) for a consultant to review and recommend amendments to the town’s work-management ordinance and to study impact-fee/vendor relationships, and approved initial steps to select firms to develop the future town-hall needs assessment and design.

Other routine actions approved included the bill sheet and minutes for prior meetings and approval of town-office holiday closures and the employee appreciation luncheon.
