Missouri Senate introduces 17 bills including measures on child custody, taxes and veterans; approves journal and adjourns

The Missouri Senate used its floor time to introduce a slate of bills and handle routine business, reading 17 senate bills into the record and referring two concurrent resolutions to the Committee on Rules, Joint Rules, Resolutions, and Ethics.

Madam Secretary read bills including SB 15 31 (an act relating to child custody) and SB 15 32 (an act relating to support orders) offered by Senator Schroer; SB 15 33 (licensure of dentists and dental hygienists) offered by Senator Brown (sixteenth); SB 15 34 (sales tax) offered by Senator Nicola; SB 15 35 (local real property tax credit for certain disabled veterans) offered by Senator Carter; SB 15 36 (appointment of a designated health care decision maker) offered by Senator Black; SBs 15 37 and 15 38 (a firearm safety training tax credit and measures relating to convention and visitors commissions) offered by Senator Gregory; SBs 15 39 and 15 40 (living donor medical orders for members of the Missouri National Guard and convention and visitors commission measures) offered by Senator Roberts; SB 15 41 (conversion therapy for minors) introduced with sponsor remarks; SBs 15 42 and 15 43 (fiduciaries/probate matters and homeowners insurance) offered by Senator Crawford; SB 15 44 (designation of infrastructure) offered by Senator Nirenburn; SB 15 45 (off-track pari-mutuel wagering on horse racing) offered by Senator Bean; and SBs 15 46 and 15 47 (financial institutions and benevolent tax credits) offered by Senator Trent.

Senator Platt moved to dispense with the reading of the journal and to approve it as though fully read; the motion carried on a voice vote. Later, Senator Platt moved that the Senate stand adjourned until Tuesday, January 13 at 2 p.m.; that motion also carried on a voice vote.

Senator Shelby placed Senate Concurrent Resolutions 16 and 17 on second reading; both were ordered referred to the Committee on Rules, Joint Rules, Resolutions, and Ethics. The House sent a message appointing members to sit with a joint committee pursuant to House Concurrent Resolution 21.

The session included mostly bill introductions without sponsor explanation; only SB 15 41 was explained on the floor. No floor votes on the introduced bills were recorded during this session; legislative next steps (committee referrals or hearings) were not announced on the floor during this meeting.
