Ridgecrest council approves agenda and consent calendar; closed session yielded no reportable actions

The Ridgecrest City Council approved its meeting agenda and consent calendar and reported no formal actions from a closed session called to discuss potential litigation and the city manager’s performance evaluation.

At the meeting’s start, an unidentified council member moved to approve the agenda and a second was given; the chair announced “5 ayes motion carries.” The council later approved two consent items by a single motion and a recorded 5–0 vote.

City Attorney (on returning from closed session) summarized the topics discussed in closed session and told the council, “No reportable actions were taken by the council in closed session.”

During mayor and council comments, one council member noted that City Manager Ron Strand is expected to retire at the next meeting and encouraged the public to attend that meeting to offer remarks.

The meeting adjourned after those announcements.
