City posts SAFE-center guidance, LADWP assistance day and LAHSA volunteer drive for the homeless count

City announcements during the program and council meeting included public-service notices across sanitation, utilities and homelessness planning. LA Sanitation reminded Angelenos that its SAFE centers accept hazardous household and electronic waste (SAFE = solvents, automotive, flammables and electronics), recommended keeping items in original containers and set a per-vehicle limit of 15 gallons or 125 pounds. The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power invited customers to a customer service Saturday on Jan. 17 at Crenshaw, North Hills and Watts offices where bilingual staff will provide one-on-one consultations, same-day enrollment in payment programs and advice on saving water and power. Customers should bring a valid ID, proof of income, proof of disability (if applicable) and their utility bills.

LAHSA announced volunteer registration for the 2026 Greater Los Angeles homeless count with improved staffing and simplified training materials and asked for roughly 6,500 volunteers to assist with the January count; signups are at count.lahsa.org. Council members and staff encouraged constituent participation during the announcements period.
