Lawrence Township board approves personnel, student-services and finance consent items; schedules executive session

The Lawrence Township Board of Education approved a slate of routine consent items covering personnel, student services and finance at its reorganization meeting.

A motion to approve personnel items P1 through P10 — including payment of unused vacation days, adjustments to start dates, leave replacements, corrected appointments and substitute staff approvals — was moved and seconded and carried by roll-call. One member, Mister Van Hise, was recorded as absent. The motion was recorded as carried.

The Office of Student Services moved OSS 1 and OSS 2, which included approval of HIB (Harassment, Intimidation and Bullying) reports and adoption of ESY (extended school year) dates; the board approved those items and noted that the location for the ESY program would be determined at a later date.

Finance committee items SBM 1 through SBM 8 were also approved by roll-call. Finance reported surplus disposal items, budget transfers, the board secretary’s report, IDEA amendments, authority for construction change orders within threshold and a transportation agreement with Union County. A motion to approve the student activities checking-account action and related items was adopted.

Under new business the board approved NB1 through NB8, covering retirements, resignation acceptances and payout calculations. Following new business, the board adopted a resolution to enter executive session to discuss HIB matters; the board stated no formal action would be taken during the estimated 15-minute closed session.

All motions noted in this item were adopted by roll-call or voice vote as announced at the meeting.
