County staff previewed procurement and contract items ahead of the Jan. 21 meeting.
On the bid board, staff described two items: a single-source care-manager software component for Comcare and clinical lab services for the Regional Forensic Science Center. Staff said the clinical-lab item replaces a previous vendor who left the business (LabCorp was mentioned as an example of a lab provider). Commissioners asked whether these were continuing services or new needs; staff said the lab services item replaces a prior vendor.
Separately, staff discussed a contract with Wesley Medical Center to transfer patients between its campuses when in‑house resources are unavailable. Staff said Wesley and Ascension typically operate in‑house transfers under their licenses, and the county contract covers occasions when hospital operators cannot provide a transfer. Commissioners asked whether discussions with Wesley and EMS were resolved and staff said the arrangement was ongoing and satisfactory for EMS.
Consent items were otherwise routine; staff also noted a consent change to DAB 3 meeting frequency (moving from monthly to every other month).
What happens next: procurement and contract items will appear on the upcoming consent and bid agendas for formal action; staff will include supporting documentation and clarify any single-source justifications or vendor-replacement details as requested.
