Lake County’s climate-resiliency work to be highlighted at national committee meeting

A county supervisor said Lake County’s fire-suppression and climate-resiliency efforts will be highlighted at a national committee meeting organized by the EELU NACO committee. "I've got, my EELU NACO committee meeting tomorrow, and it's gonna highlight, Chief Cepeda And, our our chief climate resiliency officers work on, fire water for fire suppression," Speaker 2 said, characterizing the county's local work as receiving growing state and national attention.

Speaker 2 said the county's practices for water and fire suppression have drawn interest beyond the region and will be showcased at the meeting. The supervisor framed the presentation as an elevation of locally developed approaches rather than a new funding commitment.

The board noted this national attention alongside its other outreach efforts; there was no formal vote or policy action at the meeting related to the committee presentation. Officials also coordinated representation for an upcoming RCRC meeting, with Speaker 1 indicating they would attend in Supervisor Crandall’s place and Speaker 3 saying having two representatives is beneficial.

The board completed its routine business for the day and proceeded to closed session.
