Senate Judiciary committee confirms Judge Booth 5–0

The Vermont Senate Judiciary Committee on Jan. 15 voted 5–0–0 to confirm Judge Booth after members praised his legal experience and temperament.

Committee members discussed the confirmation without the nominee present. Several senators described Booth’s background and said his nontraditional experience would be an asset. One senator said Booth’s presence would "be a great asset to the bench" because of his levelheadedness and ability to listen to arguments.

The chair moved to a confirmation vote and recorded the roll call. The committee secretary reported a recorded tally of "5 0 0," which the chair confirmed as the outcome. The committee then completed its business and adjourned for the day.

The confirmation was entered on the committee calendar and is scheduled for a confirmation session later in the day, per committee scheduling procedures reported during the meeting.
