Senator announces State House art donation, events; Senate adjourns until Jan. 20

The Senator from Windsor announced that Montpelier artist Regis Cummings and his wife, Anne, donated four seasonal paintings to the State House collection in honor of their daughter Erica and invited colleagues to a celebration at 12:15 with dessert and to view the artist's show currently on display in the cafeteria.

Committee and schedule announcements followed: the Senate Government Operations committee will meet at 1:00 p.m. today and members discussed appropriations scheduling. The Senator from Windsor also encouraged senators, particularly newcomers, to attend weekly 'Farmers' Night' performances on Wednesday evenings through April.

Before adjournment, the Senator from Chittenden wished colleagues a reflective Martin Luther King Day, characterizing the holiday as "a day on and not a day off." The Senator from Chittenden then moved that the Senate stand adjourned until 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2026; the motion was approved by voice vote and the chamber adjourned.
