Gilroy Arts & Culture Commission elects Ruben chair, McCormick vice chair

Ruben was elected chair of the Gilroy Arts & Culture Commission and a commissioner nominated by Commissioner McCormick was chosen as vice chair during a voice vote at the commission’s Jan. 13 meeting.

The new officers were nominated in the meeting’s new‑business section. Commissioner Zamora moved to nominate Ruben for chair; Ruben accepted the nomination and the motion carried with all present voting “aye.” The vice‑chair nomination was moved by Commissioner McCormick, seconded and approved by voice vote.

The commission cited City Charter section 9.04 requiring annual organization and officer election at the January meeting. The handover of meeting duties followed the votes and the newly seated chair assumed the rest of the agenda.
