Owner of Idaho Office Works says he bought property in Hickory City area, plans new facility and hires

David Poston, owner of Idaho Office Works, told attendees during a public comment that he recently bought land in the Hickory City area of Catawba County and plans to build a new facility within the next two years.

Poston, who identified himself as a veteran, said his company sells and installs contract office furniture — including school and health care furnishings and outdoor furniture — and also offers office supplies. "We go in and we offer design install to the works from the beginning to the end of the project," he said, describing the company’s full-service approach.

Poston said he has owned the business a little over three years; he also traced the company’s history to an earlier entity he named as Bombarders Incorporated, doing business as Office Furniture USA, which he said has operated for about 101 years. He said his current firm employs six people — two designers, two sales staff (including himself), and an accountant — and that installation work is outsourced to a local partner, ProTech Enterprises, with whom the business has worked for about 30 years.

On expansion plans, Poston said, "We actually have bought a piece of property here in Catawba County in Hickory area, off Exit 128," and that the company hopes to build a new headquarters or facility and add employees as it grows. He described the purchase as part of an effort to create "a solid foundation for our company, and to grow and to add some more employees."
