Council accepts Waste Management donation for Clean and Safe encampment work; city attorney finds no conflict

Council accepted a donation from Waste Management to the Clean and Safe program to assist maintenance efforts citywide, particularly work related to encampments.

Caitlin Canner, Clean and Safe manager, told council the donation was unsolicited and arose from an ongoing partnership with corridor businesses; "This is the first time donation for Clean and Safe efforts," she said. Council Member Ebert asked whether Waste Management representatives were present and whether the contribution posed a conflict; City Attorney John Shipman stated on the record that there was no conflict of interest.

Council voted unanimously to accept the donation and thanked the program and its partners for ongoing corridor cleanup work.
