Board approves water‑main contract, engineering services, storage building and tech security and fiber agreements

At its Jan. 8 meeting the Westmont Village Board approved multiple infrastructure and technology contracts that the village said are necessary for upcoming capital work and to expand services.

Water‑main improvements: Director Reese reported that 16 contractors submitted bids for the Park/Chicago/Willard water‑main project and recommended awarding the low bid to Miller Pipeline at $2,960,385, about 10% below the engineer’s estimate. Trustees voted to award the construction contract to Miller Pipeline.

Construction engineering: The board approved a $250,690 phase‑3 construction engineering agreement with Baxter & Woodman to provide construction administration, shop‑drawing review, field inspection and documentation for the water‑main project.

Public‑works storage building: The board authorized a cooperative procurement (Sourcewell) to purchase and construct a clear‑span storage building at 328 S. Wilmette with a building and foundation cost not to exceed $738,014.14; staff said total site improvements (foundation, utilities, paving and fencing) are expected to total about $1.5 million and construction would begin in May with completion in late summer, weather permitting.

Technology and security contracts: Trustees approved a master license agreement with Ripple Fiber Illinois LLC to permit additional fiber providers to bring internet and phone services to Westmont; IT Director Loja Berg said the agreements are substantially identical to earlier approvals and providers expect to offer service in mid to late next year. The board also approved a three‑year SOC (security operations center) agreement with Uncommonx to provide cybersecurity monitoring services; staff said the contract had been budgeted and vendor selection previously approved.

Roll calls for each item recorded affirmative votes by trustees present. Staff said the projects will proceed with standard procurement oversight, prevailing‑wage requirements for certain work, and routine construction oversight.
