Cleves outlines America250 events, banners and fundraising goals

During the mayoral report, the council announced Cleves Village will participate in America250 events commemorating the nation’s 250th birthday. The village plans to offer commemorative items for sale, sell veteran banners to display downtown from May through Veterans Day, and accept donations earmarked for the village America250 committee.

The mayor reported roughly $900 in donations to date and said the committee needs to raise more than $15,000 to stage planned events. Applications for veteran banners will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis, with production managed by Frontier Signs in Harrison, Ohio, and an application deadline in March to enable display by May. The village encouraged residents and businesses to sponsor the effort.

The council said proceeds and donor lists will be publicized in the weekly newsletter and on the village website. The mayor suggested residents could order items or donate via check payable and sent to the village clerk (transcript alternately refers to the clerk as 'Benny Williams' and later as 'Penny' when calling the roll); the meeting record indicates donors will be acknowledged publicly.
