Commission approves data-center expansion, substation and street renaming; retains officers

At the close of the hearing, the Auburn Planning Commission approved several mostly procedural items:

- Project Apollo expansion: Staff said there were no major concerns with a request to expand an existing data center at 1571 West Sanford Avenue by roughly 40,000 square feet; the commission approved the revised conditional-use application.

- West Sanford Substation: A conditional-use application for a commercial support power substation at 1501 West Sanford Avenue was presented and approved; staff noted the proposed use is consistent with the utilities designation in the future land-use map.

- Street renaming: Staff recommended renaming Leroy 23 to "Neil Road" to align with Lee County addressing for an annexed segment; the commission recommended the change to City Council.

- Annual meeting/election of officers: Commissioners voted to retain the current officers (Chair (unnamed), Vice Chair Dana Camp and Secretary Oscar Mosley) for the near term, with the understanding that another election will be held in June/July when terms adjust.
