Rising Sun commissioners approve resolution to revise surplus vehicle list

The Town of Rising Sun approved Resolution 2026-01 on Jan. 13, 2026, revising the town's surplus vehicle list. The Town Administrator told the commission that the 2006 Chevrolet pickup previously declared surplus will be removed from the surplus list and returned to the town fleet for yard-work duties, while a 2013 Nissan pickup will be added to the surplus list for sale.

The Town Administrator explained the town often sells vehicles in packets to include lower-value or totaled vehicles alongside working units to avoid the time and labor required to individually debrand and refurbish police vehicles. "You can't just take the good stuff, you gotta take the junk with it," the administrator said, describing the packet sale process.

Mayor Marion made the motion to accept the resolution and Commissioner Kleiner seconded. The commission approved the resolution by voice vote; the mayor announced that the resolution had passed.

No dollar amounts for expected proceeds were disclosed at the meeting.
