Chairperson Davis opened discussion on 4107 Ely Road and staff reported that the property owner had addressed most items assigned at the December meeting, but an abandoned truck and an unboarded basement window remained. A staff member said the exterior was largely remedied but the truck still sat on the property and the siding and window required completion.
Commissioners discussed prior practice for vehicle removal, noting the city had previously solicited a single cleanup bid that included towing and that the city could recover costs through a tax lien if necessary. Vice Chairperson Souder moved to grant a 30‑day extension, require boarding of the basement window and repair of the siding to the satisfaction of staff, and to solicit a bid to remove the abandoned vehicle if it was still present at the February meeting. The motion was seconded and passed with recorded affirmative votes.
The commission directed staff to proceed with the procurement step for vehicle removal and to verify completion of the two outstanding exterior items at the follow‑up meeting. Commissioners emphasized the goal of bringing the property into compliance while permitting the owner a final opportunity to correct the outstanding items.
