Moffat County awards Road & Bridge contracts for cattle guards, mag chloride and salvage metal

The Moffat County Board of County Commissioners on Jan. 13 approved three Road & Bridge procurement actions: a cattle‑guard iron fabrication bid, mag‑chloride supply, and the county salvage‑metal contract.

Road & Bridge recommended awarding the 2026 cattle‑guard iron bid to Dowdy Steel Machine of Delta for $26,516. The board moved, seconded and approved the award by voice vote.

For mag chloride, staff reported a single bid from EnviroTech Services for $809,401.50, quoted as $1.23 per gallon, and said that represents about a 6.5% increase from last year’s price. Commissioners discussed vendor history and consolidations in the market during the exchange; one commissioner’s motion listed the contractor name as Bio Tech Services while restating the amount. The board approved the mag‑chloride supply award by voice vote. The minutes record vendor‑name variations during discussion; the award was approved at the dollar amount cited.

Road & Bridge also reported one salvage‑metal bid from XField Services at $31 per ton, the same rate as the prior year, and recommended continuing with that contractor. Commissioners approved that award by voice vote.

Commissioners did not place additional conditions on the awards during the meeting; staff will proceed with contract execution under standard county procurement procedures.
