Commission elects new chair, vice chair and reappoints secretary at January meeting

The Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Commission elected Steve Schubert as chair and Chief Hanks as vice chair and reappointed Bonnie as secretary during its January meeting. The votes were taken by voice during the nominations portion of the meeting and the presiding officer declared the officers elected.

The commission also approved meeting dates for 2026, scheduling regular sessions on Feb. 12; Mar. 19; May 21; Jun. 11; Jul. 16; Aug. 20; Sep. 17; and Oct. 15, with no regular meetings in November and a December meeting on Dec. 10. A motion to set the dates was made, seconded and approved by voice vote.

The presiding officer opened the meeting, confirmed that minutes from the prior meeting had been distributed and the commission approved those minutes by motion earlier in the session.
