Superintendent remarks at the Griffith Public Schools board meeting emphasized student involvement in design work, plus targeted completion dates for multiple facilities projects.
"We created an executive design panel," Speaker 6 said, describing how elementary students were brought in to help design a play center for the district pool and later will vote on two renderings. Speaker 6 said renderings and a public acknowledgment of participating students are planned for March.
Speaker 6 provided a schedule of facility milestones: an indoor athletic facility targeted for completion June 5; a press-box facelift donated by PSI; the football/soccer field and track projected complete by July 14 with striping by Aug. 10; upper-gym lighting improvements projected by July 23; varsity locker-room work connected to the indoor facility targeted for July 31; and aquatic-center staff safety training beginning in mid-September with an aim to open the pool to the public in the second week of October.
The superintendent also highlighted athletics successes and program participation, noting the boys wrestling team’s record and individual state rankings, and announced outreach such as bused student participation in the design process.
Board members heard the update as part of the district’s strategic-plan reporting; no formal vote was required on the project timelines during the meeting.
