The Riverside Township Board of Trustees on a regular meeting evening approved three requests to rent the township auditorium for private and school events that will include alcohol service.
Trustees voted to allow a family birthday party scheduled for Jan. 31 to use the auditorium and kitchen; Trustee Clark moved to approve with Trustee Heilenbach seconding, and the motion carried with Supervisor Wilt recording an abstention. The board required the renters to provide the required certificate of insurance.
A PTA representative asked the board to approve a ticketed PTA fundraiser for Ames School on Feb. 20, with catering and two bartenders provided and a certificate of insurance on file. Trustee Heilenbach moved to approve the event and waive the auditorium fee; the motion was seconded and carried on a unanimous roll call. The board additionally confirmed the usual deposit requirement would remain in place.
Trustees also approved a March 7 baby shower reservation for the auditorium with alcohol, moving and seconding the request and voting to carry the motion unanimously. The board confirmed the event organizers must supply insurance and a security deposit.
The board did not change operating rules for alcohol service; trustees focused on ensuring organizers provide insurance and that deposits are collected to protect township property. The approvals were conducted in open session with roll-call votes recorded and the motions entered to be reflected in the meeting minutes.
