Sylvania Schools board holds organizational meeting; Tammy confirmed as vice president and committee assignments set

The Sylvania Schools Board of Education opened its January 12 organizational meeting with roll call, the Pledge of Allegiance, and the swearing in of new board members. Tammy, Julie and Dan stood for the oath and each replied “I will,” affirming their duty to support the U.S. and Ohio constitutions and to serve the district.

The board then conducted officer nominations. Tammy was nominated for vice president, nominations were closed, and a roll call confirmed her election. The record shows unanimous affirmative votes from the members present.

The board reviewed a list of standing committee assignments drawn from the previous year and reappointed members to committees that include district liaison roles (ACE team, Northwest Ohio School Board legislative committee, OPC LMRC, OSBA representation), records and policy committees, facilities, finance, permanent improvement and transportation. Members volunteered to remain on several committees and the board moved to approve the committee roster by motion and roll call vote.

Administratively, the board approved appointment of a treasurer pro tem; Adam indicated he would serve in that role. The board also approved a slate of general counsel firms that may serve as board counsel.

The meeting record shows the board moved and approved routine organizational items by roll call, and trustees thanked staff and recognized board service during the meeting before moving on to consent items and reports.
