The Town of Clayton opened eight sealed bids for a CCMG roadway resurfacing contract that covers four sections: Regan Avenue (State Road 39 to Crawford), County Road 500 South (West Michigan Street to Iowa), the Amos Street cul-de-sac and a block of Ohio Street (Crawford to Cross).
Unidentified Speaker 1 read the totals: DTC Construction Services $278,862.40; Howard Companies $250,956.00; Calment Civil $268,138.00; Milestone Contractors $327,766.00; DMV Payment $298,914.70; Grady Brothers $284,250.00; Baumgartner $258,316.00; and All Star Painting $285,484.60.
Unidentified Speaker 7 told the council that March 1 is the DOT deadline to have a contractor under contract for the CCMG project. Banning Engineering will evaluate the bids for responsiveness and responsibility, then provide a recommendation for council approval at a subsequent meeting so the town can proceed with DOT authorization.
Council members asked clarifying questions about milling and whether the millings would be retained; a staff representative said the roads will be milled and that, in their expectation, the mill ends will be retained. Council directed staff to wait for Banning Engineering’s recommendation and to prepare to act before the March 1 deadline.
The council did not award the contract at this meeting; evaluation and a formal award are expected after the consultant’s review.
