The Spanish Fort Planning Commission removed a land-use application for a proposed Primary Micro Schools after the property owner and manager asked that the item be taken off the agenda.
Chair introduced agenda item 251201, an application by Alabama Educational Company LLC, doing business as Primary Micro Schools, for approval to locate elementary or secondary schools at 21500 Towne Center Avenue. David told the commission that ‘‘based on that information and the impact it may have on future development, they have requested that this item be removed from the agenda, and as they are putting that lease on hold for the time being.’’
David said the information came from Jeff Plashet, ‘‘the managing director of asset management for Cypress Equities,’’ and that the owner indicated no signed lease exists with the applicant: ‘‘I asked, did they have a signed lease, with the Alabama Educational Company LLC, and I was told that they do not, and therefore, they have no property rights in that property at the moment.’’
David also raised an outstanding concern involving an ABC retail restaurant liquor license and its potential impact on the development and tenant mix in the center. Because the property owner placed the lease on hold, the item was removed from the agenda; no applicant representative was present to contest the removal.
The commission closed the prior public hearing record on this item and noted the item will be brought back to the agenda only if the owner notifies staff to do so.
