Lewiston council approves alcohol-license renewals for 24 establishments (20 approved at meeting)

Donna Ortiz, community development office supervisor, told the council that annual alcohol license renewals are due Jan. 31 and that the city had received required paperwork for the majority of applicants. Ortiz said there are 24 licenses under consideration and that where applicants lack a current location the state will not approve a renewal.

Councilor Wright moved to approve renewals for the 20 businesses listed on the meeting agenda; after a second the council approved the motion by voice. The named businesses included Alibi Sports Edition, Applebee's, BoJack's, Broilers, Brock's, Brighton Canyon Public Golf Course, Canter's Inn, Corner Villa, Eagles Lodge, Elks Lodge, Ernie Steakhouse, Elk's Canyon Grand Hotel, Hops and Vine, Tallymorse, Ocean Golf and Country Club, Mandarin Pine, Palshooter, Striking Spare Bar and Grill Wrangler and Zany's.

A subsequent motion approved four additional renewals (Boomers, BoomTown, Elsinore and the zoo) subject to submittal of required paperwork; that motion carried.

Ortiz said if a licensee does not have a physical location when renewal time comes, the state will not approve the license and the city follows state timelines and requirements.
