Commissioner Shelby elected chair; Chatters accepted vice-chair nomination

The Planning Commission conducted leadership nominations at the start of its Jan. 6 meeting. Commissioner Finch nominated Commissioner Shelby for chair; with no additional nominations the commission closed nominations and announced the result by acclamation: "Without additional nominations, commissioner Shelby, you are our new chair." Commissioner Chatters was nominated and accepted the vice chair role by acclamation.

Procedure and outcome: Nominations were opened during agenda item 4A. Commissioners followed standard nomination protocol; no roll-call tally was recorded. The commission did not take a separate formal roll-call vote on either leadership position during the Jan. 6 meeting.
