Moorhead school board elects Dave Marquardt chair; Cassidy confirmed as vice chair

The Moorhead Area Public Schools Board of Education completed its annual organization during the Jan. 12 meeting, electing Dave Marquardt as board chair and confirming Cassidy as vice chair by voice vote. The board then addressed nominations for treasurer, clerk and committee assignments and accepted the slate of officers and committee placements as presented.

During open nominations Cassidy moved to nominate Dave Marquardt for chair; nominations were closed and the board voted to elect Marquardt. Board members then nominated and confirmed other officers: Cassidy as vice chair and Keith as treasurer were put forward and accepted in the course of the meeting; clerk nominations included Matt Bowen and Melissa and were resolved during the organization process. Committee rosters were reviewed and one member volunteered to serve as an alternate on the Activities Advisory Council.

Board members discussed meeting dates and times as part of organization work later in the agenda, but the officer appointments were completed and the gavel was passed to Marquardt following the chair vote.
