Commission approves sidewalk fee‑in‑lieu at 2210 MLK using ARDOT pricing

The planning commission approved a waiver and a fee‑in‑lieu for sidewalk construction at 2210 Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, relying on Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) pricing for a concurrent ARDOT project.

John Easley said the ARDOT project is active on MLK and asked the city to accept ARDOT's bid pricing. City planning staff explained the city had used the ARDOT bid price of $68.78 per square yard for recent projects along MLK and said that figure reflected what the DOT is currently paying to build the sidewalks. "The price of $68.78 a square yard is actually what it costs our DOT to build that right now on that project," the planner said. The chair later stated the fee total would be $4,816.43.

Commissioners moved to approve the in‑lieu payment and the motion passed. The applicant and staff were instructed to follow up as needed to finalize the fee arrangement and documentation.
