Jonesboro finance committee elects chair, approves minutes and forwards multiple municipal-liens to full council

The Jonesboro Finance Administration Council Committee opened its first meeting of the year, nominated Joe Heffner as committee chair and carried the voice vote to elect him.

The committee moved to approve minutes from the Dec. 30 meeting; Speaker 2 noted a change to the minutes when presenting the motion and the chair asked members to record their votes.

The committee considered a series of municipal-lien resolutions read by title: Resolution 26,001 (property at 19 Markham Drive), Resolution 26,002 (224 South McCluer), Resolution 26,003 (234 South McCluer) and Resolution 26,004 (a Nelms property owned by Stone Partners LLC and CSC investments). For each resolution a member moved and a second was recorded, and the chair asked members to record their votes to forward each item to the full City Council.

During the reading of Resolution 26,004 a councilmember asked why a partial parcel number appeared twice in the resolution text. One speaker responded, "That's how code enforcement wrote it," indicating the duplication is present in the enforcement record rather than a council edit.

The committee then moved to the next agenda items, opened public comment (none offered), and adjourned.
