Mobridge council approves ordinance barring deposition of snow on city property

The Mobridge City Council approved ordinance 2504 on its second reading, which bars placing or pushing snow onto city-owned property or into public streets.

Speaker 1 summarized the ordinance, saying it "can't be pushing snow out into the streets or city property." The council moved and seconded approval and then carried the measure on a roll-call vote.

The ordinance clarifies where private property snow removal efforts may not deposit material onto public rights-of-way or municipal property; the council indicated enforcement would be handled by the appropriate city department after adoption.

The ordinance was approved during the special meeting on Dec. 29 and will take effect according to the city's municipal code procedures for adopted ordinances.
