Marietta — At its Jan. 14 meeting the City Council approved multiple rezoning and annexation requests ranging from small infill replats to a commercial outdoor parking use.
Traighton Homes — Jordan/Burnap: The council approved a replatting and rezoning application from Traighton Homes (Kevin Moore) to reconfigure 21 parcels into 19 detached single-family lots near Rose Lane, with voluntary commitments to the city's infill-overlay standards, street widening on Jordan Street, and a protected crosswalk to an existing trail. Staff and the developer said the project reduces current lot count and will deliver heightened architectural and tree-planting standards. The planning commission recommended approval; the council voted 7–0.
Trammell Street subdivision: Andrew McIntyre asked to subdivide 63 Trammell Street into two lots. Council members discussed required variances, clarified existing conditions on side setbacks (one lot has an existing 7.5-foot condition), and amended the approval to preserve current conditions; the amended motion passed unanimously.
Flex Car / Avis Mobility (1401 Cobb Parkway S.): The council approved a zoning action to reinstate a legally nonconforming outdoor parking/storage use for operable passenger vehicles associated with a car‑leasing/leasing‑style business model. The approval requires adherence to Section 706 restrictions (nonoperable vehicles not permitted) and compliance with city business licensing requirements.
The Palms at Paces Ferry: The council approved rezoning, annexation and a future-land-use map change to allow roughly 20 attached single-family townhomes on Bells Ferry Road, with stipulations including staggered unit design and a homeowners association to manage common areas; the county did not object and the planning commission had recommended approval. Councilmembers discussed recreation-area variances and fencing; all related motions passed unanimously.
What council said: Across several items, council members pressed for clarity on utilities, sewer connections, sidewalk placement, and site distance for vehicle access. Staff confirmed additional engineering, traffic, or crosswalk design work would be handled before final development permits.
