Board keeps full‑day kindergarten tuition at $2,900; Nordonia SGO continues subsidy role

The Nordonia Hills City School District Board of Education voted on Jan. 13 to set the full‑day kindergarten tuition rate at $2,900 for the 2026–27 school year.

Speaker 3 presented the motion to set the rate and the board approved it by roll call. During discussion, Speaker 7 described the role of the Nordonia SGO (student‑granting organization) in subsidizing kindergarten fees. According to Speaker 7, last year Nordonia SGO paid the full tuition for eligible low‑income students and provided discounts to others; "no student in Nordonia paid more than $2,400 for all day kindergarten," Speaker 7 said.

Speaker 7 also stated that SGO funds are donations from the community and noted those donations are reimbursed to donors through state tax returns. The speaker said the SGO has helped expand access and aims to grow its fundraising to cover more families in coming years.

The board’s action keeps the tuition figure unchanged from the previously discussed level and accompanies ongoing district and community efforts to reduce cost barriers for qualifying families. The board did not alter the district’s policy framework during the meeting; implementation of fee assistance remains a combination of district tuition policy and SGO-provided subsidies.
